Payton’s life in high school

Although he is still considered to be the best running back in the history of the NFL, he suffered a lot when he was young. In his childhood, he was never a good football player as he had been living under the shadow of his elder brother Eddie. As a result, he never determined to have a career in football when he was young. In his ninth grade, he joined the track team as a long jumper and played drums in the school band. He did his best to avoid the football team because Eddie was a star running back in the team.

However, he was invited to have a try in the school football team. Then, Payton began to play football. His decision to play football at that moment changed his life totally. If he turned the head coach at that time, he would have no chance to be one great running back in the NFL. It would be impossible for him to lead the Chicago Bears to win Super Bowl in Walter Payton jersey in the year of 1985. Besides his playing football, he gained average scores in his studying just as his parents had asked him to do.
